Can I get pointing done without a full restoration?
Absolutely — plenty of our jobs are pointing only. If the tiles themselves are sound and the roof colour doesn't bother you, re-pointing on its own solves the leak risk for a much smaller spend.
How is flexible pointing different from cement?
Cement is rigid, so every heat cycle and gust that moves the roof works it loose until it cracks and drops out. Flexible pointing is a polymer compound that stretches with that movement, which is why it lasts years longer on the same roof.
Do you have to re-bed as well as re-point?
Only where the bedding has failed. We sound every cap first — solid caps just need new pointing, hollow ones get lifted and re-bedded. You'll see which is which in the quote, so you're not paying for re-bedding you don't need.
